Your business on Social Media Sites
Published Sunday, April 14th 2019 - Updated Sunday, April 14th 2019What happens to companies who operate their business fully on a social media site, like Instagram or a Facebook page? They are relying totally on the social media site to be functional for their business to operate.
Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp all went down this morning; Facebook was reported to be down for more than two hours. Nobody seeing the offers, nobody sharing or clicking like on updates. I will typically post my update to SteveTravel.com with links on Facebook and Twitter. My updates are also emailed directly to those who sign up. Are you signed up? Yes it's great that you "Like" the Facebook Page and posts but what happens to all that if a Facebook or Twitter goes down? And it works two ways, what if your website goes down-have the social media sites to communicate the status and updates to customers.
You don't have much control over social media sites. They might go down for maintenance or updates. Sometimes a social network is sent to the digital graveyard. Google+ is a good example. Google just shut down Google+ so what happens to that business relying on G+ for it's online presence? What if all the updates for SteveTravel.com were only published on Google+? My travel business would suddenly become invisible to the Internet while I scramble to save what I can and find a new internet home.
If you go to my Facebook Page for updates every week and can't connect you might miss out on a vacation deal offering hundreds of dollars in savings if you cannot connect. Get signed up and you'll get those deals in your email and see them on the web too.
